Mukwonago hangs on to defeat Appleton North football

APPLETON – Appleton North could not over come two early touchdowns and dropped its 2024 football season opener to Mukwonago 20-10 on Thursday night at North High School.

Mukwonago running back Mason Radobicky rushed for 103 yards, including a 3-yard touchdown in the first quarter to give them a 7-0 lead.

Mukwonago upped the lead to 13-0 with a TD early in the second quarter before Appleton North tried to mount a comeback.

Charlie Olson had a 43-yard touchdown run that put North on top 7-0, before Mukwonago scored twice before halftime to take a 13-7 at the break.

Mason Skorstad botted a 24-yard field goal in the third quarter to make it a 13-10 game heading into the fourth, but the Lightning would not score again.

Nick Martin tacked on a 9-yard touchdown run for Mukwonago in the fourth as it held Appleton North scoreless over the final 12 minutes.

Appleton North will play its final nonconference game at Green Bay Preble next Thursday, Aug. 29, at 7 p.m.
