Maass pours in 31 as Appleton North girls basketball defeats Appleton West

APPLETON – Tay Maass proved to be a force underneath as the Appleton North sophomore forward poured in 31 points to lead the Lightning to a 70-39 win over Appleton West in a Fox Valley Association girls basketball game Tuesday at West High School.
Avery Werfal added 16 points for Appleton North, which ends a three-game losing streak and improves to 8-9 overall and 6-5 in the FVA.
Madelyn Nushart scored 13 points and Jazelle Gowdy had 11 for West (2-15, 0-11 FVA).
Both teams are back in action Friday with FVA games. Appleton West travels to Kimberly, while North will host Oshkosh West. Both games start at 7:30 p.m.
