Luxemburg-Casco topples Fox Valley Lutheran football in battle of top NEC teams

APPLETON – Luxemburg-Casco eliminated the Fox Valley Lutheran football team from title contention in the North Eastern Conference with a 35-21 victory on Friday night at Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
The Foxes scored first on a 46-yard touchdown run by quarterback Liam Heiges, but Luxemburg-Casco responded with four unanswered touchdowns over the second and third quarters to take command.
Nick Martin caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Heiges late in the third quarter for FVL, but it wasn’t able to get closer than 14. L-C added a fourth-quarter touchdowns before the Foxes found the end zone one last time as Heiges threw a 22-yard TD pass to Trenton Heyn.
Heiges finished with 70 yards rushing and 152 yards passing for the Foxes, who fall to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the North Eastern Conference.
Luxemburg-Casco (7-1, 6-0 NEC) earns at least a share of the NEC title with the victory and can win it outright by beating Wrightstown (6-2, 5-1 NEC) on Friday at Wrightstown.
Fox Valley Lutheran will finish its regular-season schedule at home against Freedom on Oct. 13 before heading into the playoffs.
