Luxemburg-Casco sweeps doubleheader over Fox Valley Lutheran softball

APPLETON – Luxemburg-Casco pitchers Erin Cherovsky and Baylee Wypiszenski cooled off the hot-hitting Fox Valley Lutheran softball team as the Spartans swept a North Eastern Conference doubleheader on Monday at Fox Valley Lutheran High School.

Cherovsky tossed a one-hitter in Game 1 and Wypiszenski allowed just three hits in the nightcap as the Spartans won 1-0 and 10-0 to improve to 10-1 overall and 7-1 in the NEC.

An RBI single by Anna Vandermause in the top of the second inning was the only run of the opener as Cherovsky struck out seven and walked only one to complete the one-hit shutout for Luxemburg-Casco.

Madison Babcock was nearly as good in the circle for FVL, giving up just four hits with one walk and also struck out seven.

Four-run innings in the first and fourth propelled the Spartans to win the in Game 2 as the Foxes (7-4, 3-4 NEC) were held to three singles by Brooklyn Blob, Claire Pfrang and Olivia Fischer.

Fox Valley Lutheran will next play Thursday at Clintonville.
