Little Chute bats sizzle in win over Fox Valley Lutheran baseball

APPLETON – Little Chute had three huge offensive outbursts and went on to hand the Fox Valley Lutheran baseball team its first loss of the season, 17-7 in a North Eastern Conference matchup Monday at Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
The Mustangs (1-2 overall and NEC) scored six times in the third inning to erase a one-run deficit, added five more in the fourth and tacked on four in the seventh to finish off the double-digit win.
The Foxes (2-1 overall and NEC) responded from to Little Chute’s six-run third with five of their own, tying the game at 7-7, but they would not score again as Brock Gardner and Rowen Schmidt shut them down the rest of the way.
Little Chute finished with 15 hits, seven of which were doubles. Isaac Verhagen had four hits and four RBI to lead the way for the Mustangs.
Conor Tetting drove in three and Ben Beyer had a pair of RBI for FVL.
The two teams will play again Tuesday at Little Chute starting at 4:30 p.m.
