Late score lifts Xavier boys soccer past Kiel

KIEL – Ethan Long scored late to break a scoreless tie and give the Xavier boys soccer team a 1-0 win over Kiel in a nonconference match among state-ranked teams Monday night at Kiel High School.

Xavier came into the game ranked No. 5 in the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association Division 3 state poll, while Kiel was ranked second in Division 4.

Long scored in the 75^th minute to provide the only scoring in the game as the Hawks improve to 9-4 this season. Kiel is now 9-2.

Xavier will travel to Shawano for a Bay Conference match Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
