Kufner wins 157-pound title for Fox Valley Lutheran wrestling at Fox Scramble

OMRO – Fox Valley Lutheran sophomore Austin Kufner won the 157-pound division to help the Foxes to a seventh-place finish at the Fox Wrestling Scramble on Saturday at Omro High School.

Kufner pinned Grant Harris of Hortonville in 2:56 in the 157-pound final to improve to 18-4 this season.

Hortonville won the team title with 347 points, well in front of runner-up Omor (224). Fox Valley Lutheran placed seventh in the 12-team field with 105 points.

The Foxes also had six other top-six finishes at the tournament.

Inigo Cristobal took third at 113 pounds, Peyton Lemberger placed fourth at 215 and Isaac Vadala was fourth at 285, Elijah Mattioli was fifth at 120, and Jameson Sieg (106) and Liam Murphy (165) both placed sixth for FVL.

Fox Valley Lutheran will host Watertown Luther Prep on Tuesday and travel across town to take on Xavier on Thursday to complete its dual meet season.
