Kimberly wins title at 20-team Appleton Metro Boys Golf Championship

SHERWOOD – Aiden Cudney fired a four-under par 67 to win medalist honors and lead Kimberly to the team victory at the Appleton Metro Boys Golf Championship on Monday at High Cliff Golf Course.

Cudney won the individual title by five strokes over Hortonville’s Wesley Barker, with Jon Huenink of Appleton North and Jon Bertram of Xavier tying for third. Huenink won a playoff with a closest-to-the-pin contest on the 18th green.

Kimberly won the team title with a score of 306, eight shots in front of Fond du Lac and Seymour. Appleton East placed fourth (318), Xavier fifth (322), Appleton West eighth (342), Appleton North ninth (344) and Fox Valley Lutheran 15th (377) among the 20 teams.

Appleton East’s Owen Lutes and Appleton North’s Drew Rudolf were among those finishing in a four-way tie for fifth place with 74.

Appleton West’s Collin Evers ended up in a four-way tie for 10th with a 76 to lead the Terrors.

Kyle Watry added a 78 for Xavier and Fox Valley Lutheran was led by Kaden Kusserow, who shot an 83.
