Kimberly slugs past Appleton East softball

APPLETON – Kimberly used a nine-run second inning to take command and went on to defeat Appleton East 12-2 in a Fox Valley Association softball game Wednesday at East High School.

The Patriots (6-14, 6-11 FVA) had eight hits, including two each from Ava Smarzinski and Allisyn Briggs, but could only muster two runs in the loss.

Addie Parish had three hits and two RBI, and Paige Schreck had two hits and three RBI for Kimberly (13-12, 10-7 FVA).

Both teams will wrap up their Fox Valley Association seasons Thursday at Kimberly hosts Hortonville and Appleton East travels across town to Appleton North. Both games start at 4:30 p.m.
