Kimberly shuts out Appleton East baseball

KIMBERLY – Sawyer Deering and Tanner Hart combined on a four-hit shutout as Kimberly downed Appleton East 5-0 in a Fox Valley Association baseball game Tuesday at Sunset Park.
Deering struck out 11 in five innings and Hart tossed two innings to earn the save for the Papermakers, who were playing their season opener.
Deering hit a two-run homer in the third inning and that lead held until the Papermakers added three more runs in the sixth.
Cade Prestigiacomo took the loss for Appleton East (0-2 overall and FVA), finishing with four strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. He also had one of the Patriots’ four singles in the game.
Appleton East’s home opener is Thursday against Oshkosh North.
