Kimberly outlasts Appleton North girls basketball

KIMBERLY – The Appleton North girls basketball team couldn’t hold on to a slim halftime lead and lost to Kimbelry 58-54 in a Fox Valley Association game Friday at Kimberly High School.

The Lightning led 21-18 after a low-scoring first half before the pace picked up a bit in the second half. Kimberly outscored North 40-33 over the final 18 minutes to pull away for its third-straight win and snap the Lightning’s three-game winning streak.

Avery Werfal scored 22 points, Sophie Busch added 13, and Shayna Williamson had 11 points and seven rebounds for Appleton North (10-10, 8-6 FVA).

Reagan Krueger had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds to pace Kimberly (16-3, 12-2 FVA).

Appleton North hosts Neenah on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
