Kimberly outlast Appleton East boys basketball despite 35 points from LaChapell

KIMBERLY – The Appleton East boys basketball team had its seven-game winning streak snapped as it dropped its final regular-season game Thursday night at Kimberly, 69-64.
Joey LaChapell had his third-straight game of 30-plus points, pouring in a game-high 35 points for the Patriots, He finishes the regular season averaging 26.3 points per game, hitting for at least 20 for the 19th time and over 30 for the ninth time this season.
Grayson Kasmarek added 15 points for Appleton East, which finishes the regular season at 10-14 overall and 6-12 in the Fox Valley Association.
Thomas Meyers had 19 points and Bryson Vieth had 14 for Kimberly (16-8, 11-7 FVA).
Both teams open WIAA postseason play with Division 1 regional semifinals on Friday, March 1 as Appleton East travels to Eau Claire Memorial and Kimberly plays at Appleton North.
