KIMBERLY – The Appleton North football team found itself in another defensive battle and despite holding Kimberly scoreless in the second half it couldn’t find a way to pull out the win and had its season come to an end with a 10-7 loss in a WIAA Division 1 Level 1 playoff game Friday night at Papermaker Stadium at Kimberly High School.
Kimberly led 10-0 at halftime after an 11-yard touchdown pass from Carson Pendleton to Marcus Doucette in the second quarter.
North (6-4) scored its only touchdown on an 8-yard run by Bobby Salm in the third, but couldn’t muster another scoring drive and lost its third one-score game of the season and was defeated by Kimberly for the second-straight week.
The Lightning was held to 158 total yards and committed two turnovers in the loss. Bobby Salm finished with 106 yards rushing on 21 carries, but the rest of the team only had 52 on 26 other plays.
Kimberly (8-1) will host Stevens Point (9-1) in a Level 2 game on Oct. 27 at Kimberly High School.
