Kimberly doubles up Appleton East baseball

APPLETON – Sawyer Deering and Connor Olson combined on a two-hitter to lead Kimberly to a 4-2 win over Appleton East in a Fox Valley Association baseball game Wednesday at East High School.

Deering struck out nine over four innings, and Olson finished up with three scoreless frames for the Papermakers, who are now 13-1 overall and 10-1 in the FVA.

Deering in a leadoff home run in the first inning before Appleton East struck back in the bottom of the frame as Daniel Dieck knocked in two to give the Patriots the lead.

The score held until the fifth when Kimberly scored twice to go ahead and East couldn’t muster a rally, falling to 4-10 overall and 3-8 in the FVA.

Kimberly will host Appleton North on Thursday at Sunset Park with the winner taking over sole possession of the conference lead with two weeks to go.

Appleton East will travel to Oshkosh North on Thursday for a game at 5 p.m.
