Kaukauna thwarts late comeback attempt to defeat Appleton West in FVA baseball action

KAUKAUNA – A late comeback attempt from Appleton West fell a run short as the Terrors lost to Kaukauna 8-7 in a Fox Valley Association baseball game Thursday at Kaukauna High School.

Kaukauna led 8-4 after four innings before the Terrors mounted a push.

Carter Aldrich had a two-run single in the fifth inning, and Ryder Hoffman singled and scored on a groundout in the sixth for West to cut the Ghosts’ lead to one.

Zander Leick sent the Terrors down in order in the seventh, two by strikeout, to finish off the win for Kaukauna (2-1 overall and FVA).

Hoffman had two hits and scored three times, and Blayton Will had a single, a double and an RBI for Appleton West (1-2 overall and FVA).

Appleton West will play Xavier in a nonconference game Friday at Appleton Legion Post 38 Don Hawkins Field at 5 p.m.
