Kaukauna surges past Appleton East boys basketball

APPLETON – Kaukauna overcame a five-point halftime deficit with a dominant second half and defeated Appleton East 63-43 in a Fox Valley Association boys basketball game Friday night at East High School.

The Patriots led 28-23 at halftime before Kaukauna came to life, outscoring East 40-15 in the second half to earn its first win of the season.

Keegan Van Kauwenberg scored 16 points, and Jon O’Neill had 15 pints and 18 rebounds for the Ghosts (1-1 overall and FVA).

Joey LaChapell scored 19 points for Appleton East, which shot just 16-for-52 overall and 9-for-37 from 3-point range.

Appleton East (2-2, 1-1 FVA) plays at Oshkosh North on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
