Kaukauna stymies Appleton North girls basketball

KAUKAUNA – The Appleton North girls basketball team suffered its third loss in a row, falling to Kaukauna 63-50 in a Fox Valley Association contest Friday night at Kaukauna High School.

The Lightning (5-7, 2-6 FVA) trailed 30-23 at halftime and did recover as Kaukauna (5-6, 4-3 FVA) pushed the lead to double digits by the end.

Avery Werfal had 17 points, and Amber Ziemer and Tay Maass each had 13 for Appleton North.

Addison Baumgart and Jozy Ebben both scored 21 points for the Ghosts, who have now won four in a row.

Appleton North will play at Appleton East on part of a girls-boys doubleheader on Tuesday. The girls game starts at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow at approximately 7:45 p.m.
