Kaukauna pushes past Appleton East baseball with seven-run fifth

APPLETON – Kaukauna used a seven-run fifth inning to break open a one-run game and defeated Appleton East 10-2 in a Fox Valley Association baseball game Tuesday at East High School.
Drew Luckow threw a complete game for Kaukauna (13-10, 10-7 FVA), allowing just five hits.
Appleton East (7-15, 6-11 FVA) scored once in the second on an RBI single by Mason Winkler, and added another in the fourth on a bases-loaded walk to Nick Verbeten, cutting Kaukauna’s lead to 3-2.
The Ghosts then erupted for seven runs in the top of the fifth, as five walks and back-to-back doubles by Kyle Kress and Tyler Jezeski broke it open.
Appleton East will finish its regular-season schedule at Appleton North on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
