Kaukauna outlasts Appleton East boys basketball in overtime

KAUKAUNA – Kaukauna outscored Appleton East by four in overtime to pull out an 86-82 victory in a Fox Valley Association boys basketball game Tuesday night at Kaukauna High School.

The loss is another close one for the Patriots, who have dropped five games in a row and are now 3-10 overall and 2-8 in the FVA. Eight of the 10 losses have been by 12 points or less.

The game was tied at 75-75 after regulation, with Kaukauna holding an 11-7 edge in the four-minute overtime.

Joey LaChapell continued to shine for Appleton East as the senior guard poured in a career-high 43 points, his third-straight game with 30 points or more. Jacob Weisbach had 15 points and Cade Prestigiacomo added 14 for the Patriots.

Keegan Van Kauwenberg led Kaukauna (9-5, 6-4 FVA) with 24 points.

Appleton East is back at home Friday against Oshkosh North. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
