Jenkins, Kaukauna shut down Appleton East baseball

KAUKAUNA – Owen Jenkins threw a complete-game two-hitter and also hit a grand slam to lead Kaukauna to a 6-1 win over Appleton East in a Fox Valley Association baseball game Thursday at Kaukauna High School.

Jenkins broke open the scoreless game with the big smash in the third inning and allowed just one run the rest of the way while striking out 12 for the Ghosts (5-5, 5-3 FVA).

Alex Thompson singled and scored on a triple by Rylan Winkler in the fourth inning for Appleton East’s lone run. Those were the only two hits of the game for the Patriots.

Cade Prestigiacomo went the distance on the mound for Appleton East (2-8, 1-6 FVA), finishing with six strikeouts.

Aiden Boylan also hit a home run for Kaukauna.

East will host De Pere for a nonconference game Friday at 4:30 p.m.
