Huge fifth inning pushes Hortonville past Appleton East baseball

APPLETON – Hortonville scored 11 times in the top of the fifth inning to completely flip around the game and went on to defeat Appleton East 14-5 in Fox Valley Association baseball action Tuesday at Appleton East High School.
East led 3-0 after four innings before Hortonville erupted in the fifth.
The Polar Bears (8-2, 4-1 FVA) finished with 12 hits, all singles, and used four East errors and five walks to roll to the win.
Brandon Tobak had two hits and drove in three runs for Appleton East, which drops to 4-3 and 3-2 in the FVA.
Appleton East will play at Appleton West on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Nienhaus Sports Complex.
