Hot-shooting Laconia tops Xavier girls basketball

ROSENDALE – Laconia drilled 13 3-pointers to take down Xavier 60-45 in a nonconference girls basketball game Thursday night at Laconia High School.
Laconia ripped off a 43-point first half to take an 18-point lead into intermission. While the Hawks held a three-point advantage in the second half, they couldn’t make up the big deficit.
Aubrey Leonhard scored 14 points with three 3-pointers and Finley Morgan had four 3-pointers for 12 points for Laconia (2-0), the defending WIAA Division 4 state champions.
Elle Krull had 11 points and Halle VandeHey scored nine to pace the Hawks (1-1).
Xavier will have a week off before playing at the Brookfield Central Thanksgiving Shootout. Xavier will take on Whitefish Bay Dominican on Friday, Nov. 24, at 4:15 p.m. and Franklin on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 11 a.m.
