Hortonville races past Appleton North girls basketball

APPLETON – Hortonville outscored Appleton North by double digits in each game and cruised to a 75-42 victory in a Fox Valley Association girls basketball game Friday night at North High School.
Hortonville raced out to a 14-point lead by halftime at 39-25 and held the Lightning to 17 points in the second half to pull away.
Rainey Welson had 21 points and MiKayla Werner added 13 for the Polar Bears, who made 13 3-pointers in the victory and are now 11-3 overall and 9-1 in the FVA, which ties them for first place with Kimberly.
Shayna Williamson was the lone North player in double figures, scoring 11 points. Tay Maass had a team-high 10 rebounds.
Appleton North (7-8, 5-4 FVA) hosts Appleton East on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
