Hortonville outlasts Appleton East girls basketball

APPLETON – Hortonville broke open a close game late, outscoring Appleton East by 10 in the second half, to win 65-50 in a Fox Valley Association girls basketball game Friday night at Appleton East High School.
The Polar Bears led 32-27 at halftime and after both teams made runs, Hortonville (7-2, 5-1 FVA)was able to pull away.
Rainey Welson had 22 points and Kardyn Peppler added 14 for the Polar Bears.
Torie Neubauer scored 10 of her team-high 15 points in the second half for Appleton East (3-6, 3-3 FVA).
Appleton East will play at Appleton West on Tuesday as part of a girls-boys doubleheader. The girls game begins at 6 p.m., with the boys to follow at approximately 7:45 p.m.
