Fox Valley Lutheran, Xavier earn numerous top-20 finishes at Waupaca Cross Country Invitational

WAUPACA – Fox Valley Lutheran’s Claire Fischer and Anna Feuerstahler earned top-10 finishes as the Foxes finished third in the team standings at the Waupaca Cross Country Invitational on Thursday at Waupaca High School.
Winneconne swept both team titles, with Marshfield taking second as the boys finished with 65 points and the girls with 62. The Xavier boys placed fourth and Fox Valley Lutheran was sixth, and on the girls side, FVL was third and Xavier fourth.
Owen Lencki of Waupaca won the boys race in 16:14.2, 21 seconds in front of Winneconne’s Grant Wenzelow.
Jordan Rosenbaum of Xavier was 11th in 17:55 and Will Sullivan placed 15th in 18:21 for the Hawks.
Mason Dobberstein had an 18th-place finish for FVL in 18:49.1.
Sienna Timm of Waupaca won the girls race in 20:05.0, 29 seconds ahead of Marshfield’s Natalie Scharenbroch.
Fischer placed sixth in 21:19, Feuerstahler was seventh in 21:20 and Rowen Volhard took 11th in 21:35 for the FVL girls.
Noelle Nevins placed 13th in 21:48 and Lily McHugh was 18th in 22:27 as the Xavier girls picked up two top-20 finishes.
Both teams are back in action Oct. 10 as Xavier will compete at the Kimberly Invitational and Fox Valley Lutheran will be at the Seymour Invite.
