Fox Valley Lutheran wrestling takes sixth at Omro Invitational

The Fox Valley Lutheran wrestling team split a pair of duals at the North Eastern Conference Championships on Friday and placed sixth at the Omro Invitational on Saturday.

In the consolation bracket at the conference dual meet tournament, FVL defeated Clintonville 42-33 before suffering a 47-29 loss to Waupaca.

Luxemburg-Casco defeated Wrightstown, Oconto Falls and Freedom to win the team title.

Host Omro won the team title at the tournament on Saturday with 228 points, with Nekoosa/Assumption/Port Edwards second with 207.5 points. FVL placed sixth with 121.5 points.

Austin Kufner won the 165-pound title for the Foxes, earning a 19-3 technical fall over Brady Abitz of Wautoma/Wild Rose to improve to 26-2 this season.

Liam Murphy (20-4) placed second at 215 pounds, Grant Shea (24-5) was third at 132, Ethan Ruppel also finished third at 175, and Jonah Wittig was fourth at 120 as well for Fox Valley Lutheran.

Fox Valley Lutheran will host New Holstein for a nonconference dual on Tuesday.
