MARINETTE – The Fox Valley Lutheran softball team scored six times in the fifth inning to pull away and defeat Marinette 7-2 in a North Eastern Conference game Monday at Marinette High School.
The Foxes led 1-0 before erupting in the fifth. Natalie Bromm had a two-run double, and Hannah Butler and Olivia Fischer followed two more run-scoring doubles to push the lead to 7-0.
Marinette scored twice in the bottom of the inning but that would be it against FVL pitcher Brooklyn Blomb, who went the distance and finished with eight strikeouts and only four hits allowed.
Bromm, Fischer and Alaina Krueger all had two hits in the win for the Foxes (17-6, 11-6 NEC), who have now won seven games in a row.
FVL will finish its regular-season and NEC schedule at home against Denmark on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
