Fox Valley Lutheran softball drops NEC opener at Freedom

FREEDOM – Freedom pitcher Peyton VandeLoo struck out 10 in a complete-game four-hitter as the Irish defeated Fox Valley Lutheran 5-2 in a North Eastern Conference softball game Thursday at VFW Park.
Madison Babcock hit a solo home run in the second inning to give the Foxes an early lead before Freedom scored five times in the fourth through sixth innings to pull away.
Babcock suffered the loss for FVL (1-1, 0-1 North Eastern Conference), finishing with 12 strikeouts.
Freedom had nine hits, improving to 2-0 overall and in the NEC.
Fox Valley Lutheran hosts Marinette for another NEC game Friday at 4:30 p.m.
