Fox Valley Lutheran, Little Chute split NEC baseball doubleheader

APPLETON – The Fox Valley Lutheran baseball team split a North Eastern Conference doubleheader with Little Chute, winning the first game 6-3 before Little Chute turned the tables with a 7-3 victory in Game 2.

Mac Kramer earned the win in the opener for FVL, striking out four in 6 1/3 innings. Lucas Papendorf picked the save, gaining the final two outs via strikeout.

Cael Cook had a single, a double and a home run, and drove in five of the Foxes’ six runs. Lincoln Thede and Josiah Robbert each had two hits in the win.

FVL took a 3-0 in the first inning of Game 2, but couldn’t hold on as Little Chute shut them out the rest of the way and took the lead with a four-run third.

The Foxes were held to three hits – singles by Dawson Burrington, Thede and Alex Tornio.

Both teams are now 3-2 overall and in the North Eastern Conference.

Fox Valley Lutheran will play at first-place Wrightstown (5-0, 4-0 NEC) on Monday at 4:30 p.m. Wrightstown is the only remaining unbeaten team in the conference.
