Fox Valley Lutheran girls volleyball sweeps five matches to win home FVL Invite

APPLETON – The Fox Valley Lutheran girls volleyball team swept all five of its matches to take the team title at its home FVL Invitational on Saturday.
The Foxes (21-4) defeated Menasha, New London and Crandon in pool play, then took down Sheboygan Christian in the semifinals and Oconto in the championship match to finish the eight-team tournament undefeated.
Menasha won the third-place match over Sheboygan Christian, with Crandon taking fifth, Wisconsin Lutheran Academy sixth, New Holstein seventh and New London eighth.
Alaina Patchett, Hannah Draeger and Sophia Wunderlich each finished with 20 kills to lead the Foxes.
Molly Bixby finished with 48 assists and 19 digs, Ava Patchett had 43 assists and 11 service aces, Riley Schmitz led the defense with 61 digs, Hannah Uhlenbrauck chipped in 14 kills and Brianna Stewart had 10 kills and seven blocks in FVL’s five matches.
Fox Valley Lutheran will hit the road for a North Eastern Conference match Tuesday at Waupaca.
