Fox Valley Lutheran girls volleyball finishes 3-1 at Battle of the Valley Tournament

MENASHA – The Fox Valley Lutheran girls volleyball team opened its season with a 3-1 record at the Battle of the Valley Tournament at The Barn at Lake Park on Tuesday.

FVL defeated Howards Grove, Oconto Falls and Randolph with 2-0 sweeps, and suffered its only loss to Xavier 2-0.

Oconto, Little Chute, Ashwaubenon and New Holstein also competed in the tournament.

Xavier results and statistics were not provided.

Emma Nilson led Fox Valley Lutheran with 25 kills and four blocks, while adding two aces and nine digs. Annalise Patchett had 23 kills and 29 digs, Ava Patchett had 34 assists, 13 digs and two aces, Molly Bixby had 32 assists, 12 digs and a team-best five aces, Keira Jehner had 15 digs and three aces, and Riley Schmitz had a team-leading 38 digs for the Foxes in the their four matches.

Fox Valley Lutheran will compete at the Green Bay Notre Dame Invitational at the Community First Champion Center in Appleton on Friday and Saturday.

Xavier will also take part in a two-day tournament this weekend, traveling to the Mequon Homestead Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
