Fox Valley Lutheran girls basketball falls to top-seed Shawano in WIAA Division 2 regional final

SHAWANO – Top-seeded Shawano held Fox Valley Lutheran to 30 percent shooting and cruised to a 54-31 win over the Foxes in a WIAA Division 2 girls basketball regional final Saturday night at Shawano High School.
The Foxes (10-14) finished just 12-for-39 from the field and 4-for-15 from 3-point range as their attempt at a second-straight upset fell short. FVL, seeded fifth in the bracket, upended No. 4 Waupaca on the road on Friday.
Brianna Dahlke was the bright spot for Fox Valley Lutheran, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds, making 7 of 12 shots. The rest of the team went only 5-for-27.
Shawano (20-5) moves on to a Division 2 sectional semifinal against No. 2 seed Marinette (22-4), the North Eastern Conference champion, on Thursday at Pulaski.
