Fox Valley Lutheran football finishes off regular season with home win over Freedom

APPLETON – The Fox Valley Lutheran football team finished its regular-season schedule with a strong defensive performance and picked up a 20-7 win over Freedom in a North Eastern Conference matchup Friday night at Fox Valley Lutheran High School.

The Foxes finish the regular season at 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the North Eastern Conference, ending up in a tie for second place with Wrightstown. Freedom finishes its season at 4-5 overall and 2-5 in conference play.

Neither offense did a whole lot in the wind, rain and cold temperatures, but the Foxes were able to find the end zone three times while limiting Freedom to just one score.

FVL quarterback Liam Heiges ran for 64 yards and a touchdown, and threw for 110 yards and another score. David Schumacher also returned the opening kickoff of the second half 85 yards for a score for the Foxes.

Fox Valley Lutheran will learn its first-round opponent in the upcoming WIAA playoffs on Saturday. Level 1 games will be played Friday, Oct. 20.
