Fox Valley Lutheran girls volleyball earns title at Battle of the Valley tournament

MENASHA – The Fox Valley Lutheran girls volleyball team began its 2024 season in style, going a perfect 4-0 to earn the title at the Battle of the Valley tournament at The Barn.

FVL defeated New Holstein 25-7, 25-7, and Howards Grove 25-21, 25-23, in pool play. In the Gold Bracket matching undefeated teams from pool play, The Foxes upended crosstown rival Xavier 25-18, 25-22, and Oconto Falls 31-29, 17-25, 15-10, to win the championship.

Riley Schmitz had 48 digs and 12 assists, Alaina Patchett had a team-high 22 kills, and Molly Bixby had 39 assists and eight service aces, to lead the way for Fox Valley Lutheran.

Hannah Uhlenbrauck added 16 kills, Brianna Stewart had 12 kills and 10 blocks, Ava Patchett chipped in 33 assists and six aces, and Amara Jahner had 18 digs and eight aces in the Foxes’ four matches.

Xavier defeated Oconto Falls, Wrightstown and Ashwaubenon in its other three matches. Statistics were not provided.

Fox Valley Lutheran will compete at the Beast of the Northeast Tournament on Friday and Saturday at the Community First Champion Center in Appleton.

Xavier will play at the St. Thomas More/Homestead Joust at Mequon Homestead High School on Friday and Saturday.
