Fox Valley Lutheran baseball shuts out Wrightstown

APPLETON – Alex Tornio and Jack Schlueter combined on a six-hit shutout as the Fox Valley Lutheran baseball team handed Wrightstown its first loss of the season, winning 5-0 in a North Eastern Conference game Tuesday at Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
Tornio struck out eight and walked four in four shutout innings to pick up the win, while Schlueter earned the save with three scoreless innings and two strikeouts.
Fox Valley Lutheran (4-3 overall and NEC) scored three times in the first inning, which included a two-run single by Schlueter, and added two more in the second on a pair of bases loaded walks for the game’s only runs.
Wrightstown drops to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in the NEC, but still holds a one-half game lead over Oconto Falls and Little Chute atop the conference standings.
Fox Valley Lutheran hosts Denmark for another conference game Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
