Fox Valley Lutheran baseball earns comeback win over Seymour in WIAA Division 2 regional semifinal

SEYMOUR – Fox Valley Lutheran came back from deficits twice late and defeated Seymour 9-5 in a WIAA Division 2 baseball regional semifinal Tuesday at Seymour High School.

The Foxes trailed 2-0 until the fifth when Cael Cook had an RBI single and Lincoln Thede followed with a two-run homer to left field to give FVL a 3-2 lead.

Seymour (14-11) quickly fought back with a pair of runs before Fox Valley Lutheran turned the tables again.

Jacob Bickel’s two-run single following a pair of walks put the Foxes back on top and Jack Schlueter pitched the final two innings to save the win for Alex Tornio, who struck out two in five innings of work.

FVL tacked on four insurance runs in the seventh, which included RBI singles by Schlueter and Cook.

Cook finished 3-for-4 with three RBI in the win for FVL (15-12).

The No. 5 seed Foxes will play at No. 1 Mosinee (21-5) for a D-2 regional final on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
