Fox Cities Stars girls hockey stuns Brookfield in overtime

HARTLAND – The Fox Cities Stars girls hockey team finished its regular-season schedule with a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over the Brookfield Glacier on Saturday as the Eastern Shores Conference playoffs wrapped up at the Mullett Ice Center.
Brookfield led 2-0 early in the third period before Kailey Heindel got the Stars on the board. Margaret Thomas then knocked in the tying goal with 1:22 remaining in regulation and scored the game-winner 2:24 into overtime as Fox Cities completed the comeback.
Addison Grasse had 16 saves in goal for the Stars, who finish the regular season with a 14-10 overall record and a 4-5 mark in the ESC.
The WIAA postseason brackets will be announced on Sunday.
