Fox Cities Stars girls hockey snags overtime win at Rochester, Minn.

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Ella Merritt scored 2:11 into overtime to lift the Fox Cities Stars girls hockey team to a 3-2 victory over Rochester Century/John Marshall on Friday night in the first of two games for the Stars across the border in Minnesota at the Rochester Graham Arena.

Evie Mursau and Maleiyah Streck scored in the opening period to give the Stars (3-4) a quick 2-0 lead, only to see Rochester Century/John Marshall tie the game with two goals in the second period.

Following a scoreless third period, Merritt scored off an assist from Mursau early in overtime to give Fox Cities the win.

The Stars will play Hopkins/St. Lous Park on Saturday at the Hopkins Pavilion Ice Arena at 3 p.m. to conclude their Minnesota trip.
