Fox Cities Stars boys hockey fights off WSN Storm

APPLETON – The Fox Cities Stars boys hockey team scored five times in the opening period, then had to hold off a flurry from the WNS (Whitefish Bay/Nicolet/Shorewood co-op) Storm to win 9-5 in nonconference action Tuesday at the Appleton Family Ice Center.
Ryan Ostermann scored twice in the opening period as the Stars scored five times in a span of 12½ minutes to take a commanding 5-0 lead.
WSN (3-15-1) fought back with three goals in the second and another just 19 seconds into the third to tighten the score to 5-4.
Cale Adamovich, Ostermann, Preston McGinnis and Xander Herron tacked on goals for the Stars (9-9), who were able to hold on for the victory.
Elliot Reichenberger finished with 30 saves in goal for Fox Cities.
The Stars are off until next Tuesday, Feb. 4, when they travel to Mequon Homestead. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
