Fond du Lac comes back to defeat Appleton East girls volleyball

FOND DU LAC – The Appleton East girls volleyball team started strong but could not hold that momentum and dropped a 3-1 decision to Fond du Lac in the Fox Valley Association opener for both teams on Thursday night at Fond du Lac High School.

The Patriots won the opening set 25-15, before Fond du Lac came back to win 25-18 and 25-23 in the next two sets and finished off the match in four.

Underclassmen led the way for Appleton East as junior Zoe Wockenfus had 11 kills and 18 digs, junior Ryley Foley added 11 kills and four service aces, junior Opal Sparkman dished out 26 assists, and sophomore Izzy Mead had 15 digs.

Appleton East is back in action next Thursday, Sept. 12, at home against Kaukauna for Youth Night.
