Five-run sixth pushes Fox Valley Lutheran softball past Marinette

APPLETON – The Fox Valley Lutheran softball team scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a tie game and win 10-5 over Marinette in a North Eastern Conference matchup Friday at Fox Valley Lutheran High School.
Aria Krueger hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning for FVL, giving it a 5-2 lead.
Marinette (0-3 overall and NEC) rallied to tie the game with two runs in the fourth and another in the fifth, before the Foxes exploded for a big frame in the sixth.
Melayna Sokulski led off with a double and scored on an error on the play, and with two outs Krueger singled one a run, Brooklyn Blob knocked in two with a double and she scored on a single by Olivia Fischer.
Madison Babcock struck out the final three batters in the top of the seventh to finish off a complete-game win for the Foxes as she ended with 13 strikeouts.
Fox Valley Lutheran (2-1, 1-1 NEC) will play at Oconto Falls on Monday.
