Five Appleton prep girls wrestlers qualify for sectional at WIAA Peshtigo Regional

PESHTIGO – Appleton West, Fox Valley Lutheran and Appleton North will be sending a total of five girls wrestlers to sectionals after competition at a WIAA girls wrestling regional on Friday at Peshtigo High School.

The top four finishers in each weight class at the regional move on to a sectional at Shawano next Friday, Feb. 21, with the top two in each bracket will qualify for the 2025 WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament at the Kohl Center in Madison on Feb. 27-March 1.

Fox Valley Lutheran’s Sophia Wunderlich (18-12) finished second at 138 pounds, falling in the championship match to Leah Kapla of Pulaski by pin in 4:19.

Appleton North’s Mckinley Spalding (18-12) placed third at 145 pounds, while Fox Valley Lutheran’s Elyse Ahrens (14-16), and Appleton West’s Anastasia Wilondja (16-13) and Florence Mliambo took fourth at 138 and 185, respectively, to also qualify for the sectional tournament.
