Early goal holds up as Lakeshore shuts out Fox Cities Stars girls hockey

MEQUON – Lakeshore’s Olivia Dykema scored the game’s only goal a little more than five minutes into the first period as the Lightning remained undefeated with a 1-0 win over the Fox Cities Stars in the Eastern Shores Conference girls hockey opener for both teams on Tuesday at the Ozaukee Ice Center.
Dykema netted the goal 5:19 into the contest and a defensive battle ensued, with neither team scoring again.
Makenna Otto had 18 saves in goal for Fox Cities, which drops to 1-1 overall.
Goalie Elizabeth Bowers saved all 26 shots she saw in net for the Lightning (8-0 overall).
Fox Cities’ next game is at the Metro Lynx in Madison on Thursday, Dec. 12.
