Cold offense dooms Appleton North boys basketball at Neenah

NEENAH – The Appleton North boys basketball suffered a rare cold shooting night and could not overcome a slow first half, falling to Neenah 57-37 in a Fox Valley Association matchup Saturday at Neenah High School.

The Rockets jumped out to a 24-15 lead at halftime and were able to outscore North by double-digits in the second half to pull off the win and end the Lightning’s five-game winning streak.

Appleton North shot just 36 percent from the field (16-for-45) and were 3-for-18 from 3-point range in the loss.

The Lightning fall to 14-2 overall and 9-2 in the FVA, one full game behind first-place Oshkosh North in the conference standings. The two teams will play at Oshkosh North on Tuesday. Appleton North won the first meeting of the season between the schools 71-63 back on Dec. 15.

Grant Hardy was the only Appleton North player to reach double figures, finishing with 11 points.

Brady Corso had 16 points, Charlie Wunderlich scored 14, and Luke Jung had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds for Neenah (10-7, 7-5 FVA).
