Big first inning pushes Kimberly past Appleton West softball

KIMBERLY – Kimberly scored eight times in the opening inning and rolled to a 12-2 win over Appleton West in the Fox Valley Association softball opener for both teams on Monday at Sunset Park.
Morgan Baehman knocked in both runs for Appleton West on a groundout in the third inning. Madison Buchinger and Aubrey Detert each had singles to account for the Terrors’ two hits.
Isabela Eistead picked up the win with four innings of relief, striking out six, for Kimberly.
Kylie VanHandel and Nevaeh Honick each had three hits for the Papermakers.
Appleton West jumps right back into action Tuesday at Hortonville. Game time is 5 p.m.
