Appleton West’s Evers, Xavier’s Bertram begin competition at WIAA State Boys Golf Tournament

KOHLER – Two local golfers teed off on the first day of the 2024 WIAA State Boys Golf Tournament on Monday at the Meadows at Blackwolf Run.
Appleton West was able to complete his round and shot an 82, which stands in a tie for 42nd place in the Division 1 field.
Rain shortened competition in the Division 2 and 3 afternoon session. Xavier’s Jon Bertram shot a 40 and is tied for 10th through nine holes in the Division 2 standings.
Bay Port’s Karsen Kruse leads the Division 1 field after shooting a 1-over par 73, which stands one shot in front of Cody Schmidt of Germantown, Lincoln Hoffmann of DeForest, Spencer Stuke of Kettle Moraine and Mason Burke of Fort Atkinson.
Matt Haggart is on top of the Division 2 individual standings with an even par 36, one stroke ahead of Edgerton’s Caleb Kern.
Play resumes at 7 a.m. Tuesday in Divisions 2 and 3, with Division 1 golfers starting at noon.
