Appleton West softball rallies late to defeat Ripon, snag first win of season

RIPON – Morgan Baehman smacked a two-run double in the top of the seventh inning to vault the Appleton West softball team to its first victory of the season, a 5-3 nonconference win over Ripon on Monday at Murray Park.

Baehman finished with three hits, including two doubles, Ali Raddatz hit a solo home run and scored three times, and Trinity Smigielski and Addison Edmunds each had two hits in the victory for Appleton West, which is now 1-17 this season.

Hattie Moscinski went the distance on the mound for the Terrors, finishing with one strikeout and three walks, while allowing seven hits.

Appleton West will be at home at Nienhaus Sports Complex against Fond du Lac for a Fox Valley Association contest on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
