Appleton West softball held to one hit in shutout loss to Hortonville

APPLETON – Hortonville pitcher Molly Kelly threw a one-hit shutout as the Polar Bears blanked Appleton West 13-0 in a Fox Valley Association softball game Wednesday at Nienhaus Sports Complex.
Kelly struck out 13 and did not walk a batter as Hortonville improves to 16-9 overall and 11-6 in the FVA.
Madison Buchinger had a triple for the only hit for Appleton West (1-19, 0-17 FVA).
Paige Lillie had a double, a home run and drove in three runs, and Olivia Peters had three hits and three runs scored for Hortonville.
Both teams will finish their FVA seasons on Thursday as Hortonville travels to Kimberly and Appleton West plays at Oshkosh North. Both games start at 4:30 p.m.
