Appleton West girls soccer shuts out Bay Port to earn WIAA Division 1 regional title

SUAMICO – The Appleton West girls soccer team did it again.
The sixth-seeded Terrors earned their second road win in the playoffs, and a WIAA Division 1 regional title, with a 1-0 shutout of No. 2 seed Bay Port on Saturday at Bay Port High School.
Addyson Knoebel scored off an assist from Lilah Piterle for the game’s only goal, sending Appleton West to sectionals.
Kayda Aeby made 12 saves in goal for the Terrors.
Appleton West (9-9-2) will play a D-1 sectional semifinal at No. 1 seed Kimberly (19-2-1) on Thursday at 7 p.m. Hudson (10-6-4) will play at D.C. Everest (17-2-2) in the other semifinal on Thursday, with the winners meeting at Hudson on Saturday, June 8, for the sectional championship match.
