Appleton West girls have two top-10 finishes, Xavier boys place fifth at Shawano Cross Country Invite

SHAWANO – Appleton West’s Lucie Fouts and Morgan Breed earned top-10 finishes as the Terrors finished seventh in the girls team standings at the Shawano Hawk Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Shawano High School.
Maggie Behler of Kohler won the girls race in 19:33.8, 18 seconds ahead of Hannah Huza of Hortonville. Fouts took third in 19:53.0 and Breed was ninth in 20:30.3 to lead the Terrors. Roseanna Dane added an 11th-place finish in 20:41.6 for West.
Green Bay Notre Dame won the girls team title with 95 points, with Kaukauna second with 110. West had 144 and Xavier took 10th among the 16 complete teams with 222.
Joy Krull ran in 22:05.9 to take 34th and Noelle Nevins was 38th in 22:22.1 for the Xavier girls.
Green Bay Preble rolled to the boys team title with 32 points as its top four runners finished third through sixth. Xavier placed fifth with 171 points. Appleton West only had three runners participate.
Joseph Hunt of Notre Dame won the boys race in 16:18.6 with Taylor Karcz of Crandon second in 16:30.3.
Kegan Phalin of Appleton West placed 17th in 17:52.4, with Xavier’s Jordan Rosenbaum taking 27th in 18:06.8 to lead the Hawks.
Appleton West will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 21, at the New London Invitational. Xavier will also have its next meet on Sept. 21 at the St. Lawrence Seminary Invite in Mount Calvary, east of Fond du Lac.
